FOUR AND OH! Celts Conquer Pirates 68-53

Men's Basketball improved to 4-0 in SCAC play taking down the Southwestern Pirates this Saturday night. The Celts capitalized on 16 Pirate turnovers as a team to win 68-53.

In the first half, the Celts and Pirates kept things close. Southwestern was able to score early buckets to give them the lead for 16 minutes, yet it wasn't enough to pull away from St. Thomas. A clutch three from Andrew Adebo tied the game and then Calvin Williams IV scored a layup at the buzzer to give the Celts a 32-29 lead heading into halftime. Out the half, St. Thomas only added to their lead and played tight defense. Four steals in the half and five fast breaks helped power a 36 point performance as Freddie Ricks III drained two threes in the effort. Southwestern also committed costly fouls which led to nine converted St. Thomas free throws. At its peak, the Celts had a 18 point lead, and any chance at a Pirate comeback was too late when the final score showed 68-53.

Calvin Williams IV led the Celts, who had 24 points in the game. Williams IV also tied for the team-high with two assists with Zack Golaszewski. Joshua Sanchez also had two steals in the game and Andrew Adebo tabbed eight rebounds.

Up next, the Celts return to the JAAC to face Austin College on December 30th.
