King, O’Donnell Fuel Victory at Albright

Eva King and Maggie O'Donnell combined for six goals and seven assists to lead Colorado College to a 15-13 victory at Albright College on Friday afternoon.

King led the Tigers with eight points and matched her personal best with six assists. With her first goal of the game, King became the 15th player in program history to record 100 or more career goals. She also improved her point total to 81, which ranks sixth on CC's single-season list.

O'Donnell tied her season-high of four goals and dished out one assist. Two of her goals were scored during a 5-0 run that gave the Tigers an 11-5 lead with 21:44 remaining in the game.

King ignited the barrage when set up Lauren Pejza's player-down goal with two minutes to play before halftime.

Lauren China scored two of her three goals during a 6-2 surge that saw the Lions cut their deficit to 13-11 with 7:12 still on the clock.

Less than a minute later, CC's Bella Beattie struck for the last of her season-high three goals, which proved to be the game winner with 6:18 to play.

Albright pulled to within 14-12 on a goal by Sophie Bass, but King answered 13 seconds later to restore Colorado College's three-point lead.

Kelly Baumann scored for Albright with 1:14 to play, but that proved to be the final goal of the game. After Bass won the ensuing draw control, Avery Bell caused a turnover with 55 of seconds to go and the Tigers ran out the clock after Pejza scooped up the ground ball.

Pejza led the Tigers with four ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers.

Despite playing their second game in less than 19 hours, the 21st-ranked Tigers improved to 15-1 this year and tied the program record for victories in a single-season, which was first set in 2012 and matched again in 2017 and 2018.

The starting time was moved up 90 minutes due to the threat of thunderstorms.

Colorado College played without the services of Allie Thuet for nearly 36 minutes, including all of the second half. The junior attacker, who finished with two goals, was given a pair of yellow cards in a little less than four minutes apart late in the first half.

O'Donnell struck for her first goal just 35 seconds after Thuet was sent off the field, and Pejza scored just before Thuet's second two-minute penalty expired.

Nikki Blair and Thuet finished with two goals apiece.

Alena Stern finished with six saves for the Tigers.

Terae Mason, who started in goal for Albright, stopped four shots in almost 40 minutes of action. Nicole Elliott entered the game with CC leading 11-5 and made one save in a little more than 20 minutes.

Baumann led the Lions with three goals and an assist, while Lauren China also found the net three times.

Baumann also produced game highs of eight ground balls and four caused turnovers for Albright.

Bass and Taylor Filmer finished with two goals and an assist for the Lions.

Colorado College plays host to the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship next weekend on Saturday, April 27, at 11 a.m. MT. at Washburn Field. The Tigers will likely be the No. 1 seed and face an opponent to be determined in the first semifinal game.
