Trinity Men and Women Sweep SCAC Swimming & Diving Titles

GARLAND, Texas – The Trinity University swimming & diving teams swept the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships for the fifth straight season on Saturday, finishing up a four-day event that saw both teams leading the field from the start.

The Trinity women's team has now won 24 total SCAC Championships, with the program having now won 21 straight titles. The men's team has won 12 of the previous 13 SCAC Championships, and has piled up 16 total men's titles. As has been the case of late, the Tigers got better as the meet went on as both teams increased their leads from the end of Friday's results. Trinity's women scored 1,112 points and won by 275 points over second-place Colorado College. The Trinity men's team finished with 1,085 points and wound up 153 points ahead of Colorado College in second place.

Sophomore All-American Neely Burns (Phoenix, Ariz. / Thunderbird) was named the SCAC Women's Swimmer of the Meet for the second straight season, while senior All-American diver Konstantine Partalas (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) earned the SCAC Men's Diver of the Meet title for the third consecutive season. Additionally, senior All-American Kendal Southwell (Rio Rancho, N.M. / Calvert Online Academy) was honored with the SCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Elite 19 award, which is given to the student-athlete with the top GPA among All-SCAC honorees at a given championship. Southwell is the first Trinity men's swimmer or diver to win the award since 2020, as well as becoming just the third overall men's winner for the Tigers.

Men's senior All-American Michael Kohl (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) earned the SCAC Men's Swimmer of the Meet title for the fourth straight year, becoming the first swimmer in SCAC history to win the conference's top honor all four years of his career.

Trinity's men's and women's teams combined to win eight events on the final day of competition, as well as producing a total of 19 All-SCAC performances by finishing in the top three of an event.
