The Rhodes College baseball team defeated LaGrange College this afternoon 15-2 in LaGrange, GA.  LaGrange took an early 1-0 lead after 1, but the Lynx responded with 2 in the top of the third, 1 in fourth, and blew the game open with 10 in the fifth, before putting up 2 more in the sixth.  Senior RHP Austin Carden collected his third victory of the season in his third start of the season as the Lynx improve to 6-3 on the year.

Carden needed only 58 pitches to get through five innings and collect his third victory.  Carden allowed 5 hits, 1 earned run, no walks, and struck out 1.  Sophomore RHP Strother White relieved Carden in the sixth and did not allow a runner to reach base in his inning of work.  Freshman Josh Keen made his first collegiate apperance on the mound working the 7th and 8th.  Keen allowed 2 hits 1 unearned run, and walked 1 in his 2 innings of work.  Senior RHP Jack Clark finished off LaGrange in the 9th surrendering 1 hit.

The Lynx offense pounded out 17 hits this afternoon highlighted by sophomore RF Patrick Kilkenny's grandslam in the top of the 5th.  Kilkenny finished the day going 2-4 with a grand slam, 5 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.  Sophomore DH/1B Matt Burnick was 2-4 with 2 doubles, an RBI, 2 runs scored, and got hit by a pitch.  Junior SS Lynden Pindling was 2-5 with a double, 2 runs scored, and drove in a run.  Sophomore 2B Stewart Martens was 1-3 at the plate with 3 RBIs, and a run scored.  Sophomore 1B Strother White was 2-5 with a double and a run scored.  Sophomore OF Walker McWherter was 2-2 with 3 runs scored, drove in a run, walked once, and got hit by a pitch.  Sophomore C Josh Goodwin had his most productive day in a Lynx uniform going 2-3 with 2 runs scored and a walk.  Red-shirt freshman 3B Justin Genter was 2-3 at the plate with an RBI, run scored, and got hit by a pitch.

Rhodes will return to action Sunday against LaGrange at 10:00 before taking on York College at 1:00.
