Rewoldt, Tigers cruise past Johnson & Wales

Box Score Colorado College tried a different game plan on Tuesday night against Johnson & Wales University.

Instead of falling behind early and roaring back at the end of the game, the Tigers built a comfortable lead and cruised to a 71-59 victory at Reid Arena.

Junior guard Jake Tramutolo buried four of eight shots from behind the arc to pace the balanced Colorado College offense which saw 12 of its 15 players figure in the scoring. Junior point guard Ryan Milne chipped in 11 points, while sophomore forward Chris Lesnansky added 10.

Leading by nine after 20 minutes, CC began the second half with a 23-11 run to build a commanding 53-32 advantage with 9:10 remaining in the contest.

Junior guard JP Mile and junior forward Kahler Grandbouche helped the Wildcats claw their way to within 11 points with 46 seconds to go, but it was too little, too late.

Mile came off the bench to lead JWU with a game-high 18 points, while Grandbouche recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Johnson & Wales trailed just 16-15 when senior guard Chris O'Neal knocked down a long-range shot with 8:31 remaining in the first half, but Colorado College got baskets from four different players during a 9-0 run to take its first double-digit lead.

After a layup by senior forward Cedric Ennis cut the Wildcats' deficit to 25-21 with 2:05 remaining in the half, CC scored the final five points to make the score 30-21 at the break.

With his assist on Tramutolo's three-pointer 2:43 into the second half, Milne passed Seth Pfalzer's (1993-97) total of 271 career assists for eighth place on the school's all-time list.

Senior forward Ian Rewoldt and Lesnansky grabbed seven rebounds apiece for the Tigers. With his final rebound, Rewoldt climbed into 22nd-place on the program's all-time list with 427, one more than Ron McCarty (1957-59).

Colorado College (7-6) extended its winning streak to three games and now has won four in a row at home. JWU, which saw its two-game winning streak come to an end, dropped to 4-15.

The Tigers visit Johnson & Wales on Jan. 29 for their final non-conference game of the 2012-13 campaign.

Colorado College returns to SCAC play with back-to-back games at the University of Dallas on Friday and Saturday night.
