
Ladies Blanked 2-0 At Home By Celts
The Centenary women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the University of St. Thomas Celts on Friday evening in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at Atkins Field.
Shreveport- The Centenary women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the University of St. Thomas Celts on Friday evening in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at Atkins Field.
The Ladies dropped to 3-5-2 overall and 1-1 in SCAC play while the Celts improved to 5-1-2 and 1-0 in league action. Centenary, which opened conference play on Tuesday with a 2-0 win over the University of the Ozarks, is 3-2 at home this season. The Celts upped their road record to 2-2.
Fernanda Alvarado scored both St. Thomas goals and both came in the first half as she scored in the 32nd and 37th minutes. St. Thomas finished with a 15-8 advantage in shots and took seven corner kicks while Centenary took just one. The Celts where whistled for seven fouls and the Ladies picked up five with the visitors collecting the only yellow card in the match.
Sophomore GK Kaniyah Hill (Tyler, Texas) went the distance in goal for the Ladies and made six saves in her 90 minutes. UST keeper Kylie Soich also played the whole match and tallied four saves.
The Ladies are off for a week until they return to action for a pair of conference road contests beginning with a meeting next Friday, Oct. 11 against Austin College in Sherman, Texas and then will face the University of Dallas on Sunday, Oct. 13 in Irving, Texas.
