IRVING, Texas — Southwestern junior forward Juliet Pridgen opened SCAC Tournament play in style, accounting for three scores in the No. 22-ranked Pirates' 4-0 win over the Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs.

Pridgen had a career-high five points, scoring two goals and assisting on another to bring her season total to 12 points on five goals and two assists.

Southwestern scored in the first four minutes of play when the Pirates quickly switched the field, finding Samantha Hazen on the left side isolated against Texas Lutheran defender Kelly Wolfe. Hazen made a quick right-to-left move, turning the corner and sending a perfectly delivered cross to Pridgen in stride for the score.

Pridgen assisted on the next score, tracking down a Hazen pass deep in the right corner, turning inside to create separation from the defense, and finding Sydney Boswell for the goal to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Pridgen added her second goal at the 73:34 mark, thanks to a dazzling display of athleticism from junior defender Juliana Chapa. Chapa got the ball in space just inside the Southwestern side of the halfway line and outpaced the entire Texas Lutheran midfield with the ball, stopping just short of the defensive backline to find Yamila Lara who immediately passed to Pridgen wide open just inside the box. Pridgen delivered a powerful rising shot to the top-right corner for her second goal.

Southwestern's final goal came on gritty play from Abrianna Morales, who sealed off Texas Lutheran midfielder Monique Sierra and made the assist to Madison Koehn as she went to the ground.

The Pirates shut out the Bulldogs for the third time this season, posting their 10th clean sheet of the season. Southwestern outshot Texas Lutheran 18-4 and didn't allow a single shot on goal. Southwestern advances to the SCAC Championship, where it will play Trinity on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
