The Colorado College women's swimming and diving team opened the 2023-24 season Friday with a 145-98 loss to SCAC foe Trinity University at Schlessman Natatorium.
Emma Krasemann collected wins in both women's diving events for the Tigers. She started the meet with a score of 263.03 in the three-meter, then capped her evening with a 252.75 performance in the one-meter event. Freshman
Keller Pooley earned third place in both events.
Alexis Lee picked up the first individual win in the pool om Friday. Lee went 1:00.89 in the women's 100-yard backstroke. The sophomore also placed second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:14.76.
Lee was a part of the second-place team for CC in the women's 200-yard medley relay race. She joined
Isabella Cole,
Alyssa Tunggal and
Sarah Buchman. CC also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a team of
Gina Lynch,
Grace Ersfeld-O'Brien,
Megan Simonson and
Adeline Turner.
"There's always that uncertainty going into the first meet, but I always say uncertainty just means there's a chance that it will be great, and it was," head coach
Anne Goodman James said. "I am so happy with how well we competed. We got tougher as the meet went on. Trinity definitely had the stars who won the events, but we showed our impressive depth in almost every event."
CC and Trinity will battle again on Saturday, beginning at 11 am.
