Men's Swimming Opens up Season Against Colorado College

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Men's Swimming kicked off the 2024-2025 season on Saturday at home in Walzel Natatorium against conference opponent, Colorado College. The Pirates concluded the meet at a 178-90 point deficit against the Tigers. The Pirates scored four first place finishes in events, including first in opening event, the 200 yard medley relay. Southwestern also concluded with four swimmers placing runner-up in the meet. 

HIGHLIGHTS - First Place Finishes
  • 200 Yard Medley Relay - The team of Owen Rodrigue, Luke Lawhon, Marc Galindo and Eli Allen clocked a time of 1:37.47 
  • 1000 Yard Freestyle - Andrew Renninger won the event by 12.23 (10:25.16) seconds over teammate James Cosman (10:37.39)
  • 50 Yard Freestyle - Eli Allen clipped Colorado College by .24 seconds to take victory with a time of 21.45.
  • 100 Yard Butterfly - Tim Young placed first in the event by .73 seconds with a time of 54.19.
NOTES
  • James Cosman placed second in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:37.39, beating two Tiger swimmers.
  • Luke Lawhon was second in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:00.86) among the four Tiger swimmers in the event.
  • Nick Freeman came in second in the 200 yard backstroke, putting up a time of 2:01.79, book ended by Colorado College in first and third.
  • Cosman collected another runner up finish in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:07.80

  • Southwestern will head to Houston, Texas to compete against the University of St. Thomas on Friday October 25th at 4:00 PM.
