Courtney Tyus on the disabled list, Colorado College needed everyone to step up on Friday night.
Despite a gutsy effort by its entire eight-player roster, the Tigers dropped a 74-68 loss to Schreiner University at Reid Arena.
CC was within three points at 45-42 when
Korbyn Ukasick dialed long distance 5:46 into the second half, but sophomore guard Christonna Jones scored eight points to ignite a 17-6 run that gave the Mountaineers a 14-point lead with seven minutes remaining.
The Tigers cut their deficit to seven points on a three-pointer by
Katie Wirth with 3:14 to play and then again on a bomb by Ukasick with 35 seconds left, but Schreiner made six of 10 free throws during the final minute to escape with the victory.
Ukasick connected on five of nine three-point attempts and finished with a game-high 19 points for Colorado College. The sophomore forward also grabbed eight rebounds and had three assists.
Junior forward
Danielle Davis registered 11 points, eight boards and three assists.
Junior guard
Katie Waters added 16 points and a season-high six assists for CC, which slipped to 2-18 overall and 2-7 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Junior forward Brooke Sanders led the Mountaineers with 13 points, while freshman guard Jordyn Villa finished with nine points, four assists and four steals.
Schreiner improved to 8-10 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
Colorado College returns to action on Saturday night against Trinity University.
