CHRISTOPHER CORBETT OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior on the men's tennis team from Dripping Springs, Texas, has been selected as the SCAC Character & Community Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning February 24.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

A Psychology major and a member of the Schreiner men’s tennis program, Chris has played a vital role for the Mountaineers - both on and off the court - the past three seasons.

Along with his work on the court, Chris has made several contributions off it. Since arriving in Kerrville, he has become involved in campus administration as an officer in Student Government and has also assisted at the Schreiner Writing Center.

Through his involvement with the Schreiner SGA, Chris has served as a senator and is currently the organization's Vice President. In these roles, Chris has been an active advocate for his fellow students, bridging the gap between the student body and administration. His involvement with student government has also allowed him various volunteering opportunities - both on campus and in the community. His charitable work with UNICEF is just one example of organizations who have benefitted from his emphasis on community outreach.

As a tutor in the Writing Center, Chris works with students who may need extra assistance, particularly with the writing process.

In his spare time, Chris seves as an active performer in the campus worship band as a drummer.

Prior to attending Schreiner, Chris was active in scouting and earned Eagle Scout status.
