Trinity took control of the match quickly by attacking the goal
aggressively. The Tigers scored five goals in the first 25 minutes
of the game and added two more in the second.
Trinity first goal came just within the first ten minutes of the match by junior midfielder Kelsey Falcone. Junior midfielder Emily Jorgens crossed the ball to the far post for Falcone to head the ball into the left side of the net.
Falcone second goal came just four minutes later, as Jorgens crossed the ball from the 20 yard line, while Falcone headed the ball in again. Falcone turned around and assisted sophomore midfielder Maggie Olvera with her goal just three minutes later.
Jorgens placed the ball in front of teammate senior forward Michelle Lanier while she connected the ball to the lower left corner of the net. With some great teamwork, Trinity pushed their lead to five. Senior midfielder Tara Sparks sent the ball up the middle of the field opening a gap up for senior forward Shelby Guenthardt to add the last goal of the first half.
After halftime, Jorgens passed the ball up the field to Falcone, who took a tough outside shot for the end of her hat trick. The last goal came from freshman forward Brigette Taylor, as Lanier crossed the ball low to Taylor’s feet for the score.
Jorgens broke the SCAC single-game record for assists in a game with five. She is just three assists away from the NCAA Division III single-season record of 30.
Dallas Hasson ended the game with 13 saves.
The Tigers improve to 20-0-1 on the year and advance to the
championship match on Sunday. They will face the Southwestern
University. University of Dallas closes the year at
7-14 overall.
