Dallas Defeats Centenary for Seventh Place at SCAC Volleyball Tourney

The University of Dallas earned a seventh place finish with a 3-0 win over Centenary College to open the second day of action at the 2013 SCAC Volleyball Championships Tournament on Saturday.

Dallas won the first and third sets convincingly (25-9, 25-8), but had to fight out a 25-22 win in the second set. The Crusaders finished 1-2 at the tournament, while the Ladies fell to 0-3 for the weekend.

C.J. Broadbent led the Crusaders with a double-double, scoring 29 assists and 12 digs. Emily Caples paced the Dallas offense with 14 kills, while Jessie Koster racked up 17 digs.

Three different Centenary players tied for the team lead with 10 digs – Chelsea Petsky, Brooke Bahlinger, and Sarah Sumner. Bahlinger also led the Ladies with six kills, while Sumner finished with five in the match. Rachel Perkins posted a team-best 15 assists in the loss.
