Southwestern advances to the SCAC Championship match against Trinity tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. Trinity defeated Texas Lutheran 3-2 in a thriller earlier this evening. The Pirates won 25-20, 25-21, and 25-23 in the match, holding off rallies from Colorado College in each of the sets.

This will be Southwestern's first appearance in the title match since the Pirates last won the SCAC title in 2009.

Macey Pool led Southwestern with a double-double, scoring 10 kills and 12 digs. Chandler Lentz led the Pirates with 21 digs, while Kaitlyn Foster finished with 14 digs. Nikki Welch finished with 27 assists and eight digs, while Abbie Robb scored nine kills.

Courtney Birkett led the way with 13 digs for Colorado, though she was the only Tiger player in double figures. Devon Lucero finished with 24 assists, while Sophie Merrifield had a team-best 15 digs. Abbe Holtze also reached double figures in digs, finishing with 10.

Colorado College will take on Texas Lutheran in the Third/Fourth Place match at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. With the win, Southwestern has ensured that the SCAC will crown a new SCAC Champion in 2013, as Colorado had won the previous three tournaments.
