Trinity Wins Opening Match of SCAC Women's Volleyball Tournament

The 14th-ranked Tigers won 25-9, 25-18, and 25-14 to improve to 32-6 on the season.  Centenary fell to 5-26 this year with the loss.

Audrey Hazelwood led all players with eight kills in the match, scoring a 1.000 hitting percentage for the Tigers. Kelsey Daniel hit .556 with six kills, committing just one error in nine attacks.  Trinity hit .341 as a team, led by setters Maryn Swierc (10 assists) and Erika Edrington (14 assists). Shannon Courtney added 13 digs to lead Trinity, while Erin Cusenbary tallied three blocks.

Rachel Perkins led all players with 15 assists for the Ladies, while Chelsea Petska recorded a team-best 11 digs. Brooke Bahlinger finished with six kills, while Sarah Sumner chipped in with five kills of her own.

Trinity advances to the SCAC Tournament Semifinals to face #4 Texas Lutheran University, while Centenary will take on Austin College. Both matches will be at 4:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
