WILLOW LOTT OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a first-year runner from Durango, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week for meets ran Friday, September 15 and Saturday, September 16. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 3)
Lott led the Tigers' women's cross country team to an impressive second-place finish against Division I and II teams at the Metro State Invitational at altitude in Denver. CC, the only Division III team at the meet, finished just 14 points behind first-place Colorado Mines and 22 ahead of third-place Air Force. She finished in fourth place individually in just her second collegiate race, covering the 6K course in a time of 22 minutes, 44.40 seconds.
Lott shares this week's honor with Allison Fortman of Trinity University.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Teresa Cashen of Dallas ran a 27:37 on a sloppy and difficult cross country course at the Texas Tech Open. With the majority of the field being NCAA Division 1, NCAA Division II, NAIA, and NJCAA Division 1, Cashen held her own ground and ran an amazing race - the first 6k of her career. Senior Rachel Chiella of Southwestern was the team's top finisher at the SU Showdown which featured tough D3 competition from around the state of Texas. Chiella placed 10th with a time of 25:48 in the 6k event, moving up the entire race and securing her top 10 status with a strong kick in the last 100m.
