Trinity's Erickson, Dallas' Fritz, Colorado's Lavietes Named SCAC Runners of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Freshman Michael Erickson of Trinity University, senior Rebecca Lavietes of Colorado College, and junior Ruth Fritz of the University of the Dallas have been named SCAC Runners of the Week for their performance this past weekend.

SCAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Meets through Sunday, October 19th

MICHAEL ERICKSON OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman from Sugar Land, Texas, has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets run through Sunday, October 19th.

Erickson led Trinity to a team victory at the Concordia Texas Invitational on Saturday, finishing third overall individually.

Erickson finished just 19 seconds behind teammate Taylor Piske, marking his closest finish to the team lead this season. The two Tiger runners led all collegiate runners, finishing behind only an unattached competitor. Erickson also improved his 5K time at the UTSA/Ricardo Romo Classic by 32 seconds.

 

SCAC WOMEN'S CO-CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS OF THE WEEK
Meets through Sunday, October 19th

REBECCA LAVIETES OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior from Samford, Conn., and RUTH FRITZ OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a junior from Boise, Idaho has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Co-Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week for meets run through Sunday, October 19th.

Lavietes finished 43rd out of 143 in a highly competitive NCAA Division II field at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open in Hays, Kan.

Lavietes had an impressive time of 18:42, setting a new PR, breaking her old more of 19:03, and helping the women place 9th out of 17 teams. 

Fritz finished 3rd overall at the Austin College Invite this weekend with a time of 19:58 in the 5k.

Fritz's run constitutes a return to form for the junior who had not run a sub-20 5k since severe knee surgery at the end of her senior year of High School.
