Emma Hewlin, Colorado College, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 6)

EMMA HEWLIN OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior middle hitter from Victoria, British Columbia, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 30 through Sunday, October 6.

Hewlin began the week by hitting a season-best .714 at Johnson & Wales with 10 kills. She had a .667 hittting percentage with seven kills on nine swings with only one error against No. 9 Trinity. In the match-up against Austin College, she tied her season high with 11 kills. The Junior finished the weekend with nine kills, finishing the weekend averaging 2.79 kills per set with a .507 hitting percentage. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Alaina Lanik of St. Thomas had 45 kills for the week averaging 2.37 kills per set and 78 digs over five matches for the Celts. She recorded her 12th and 13th double-doubles of the season in matches against Southwestern and Dallas. Senior Bryten Mitchan of Texas Lutheran recorded 17 kills and a .293 hitting percentage in match against Southwestern, and 17 kills in win over Dallas. She had 61 kills averaging 3.21 per set for the week. Sophomore Dayjah Whyte of Dallas had 46 kills, 12 digs and 5blocks and averaged 3.54 kills per set over four matches with a .304 hitting percentage.  Sophomore Elizabeth Epley of Centenary posted a .429 hitting percentage against Trinity and picked up 47 total kills in the four games . Sophomore Emily Ellis of Trinity hit .476 for the weekend, with 34 kills (2.83 per set) in the four matches. Her 15 kills against Dallas is the second-most she has posted this season, and she also hit a weekend-best .667 percent in the match. Freshman Emma White of Southwestern produced four double-doubles last week, posting career highs of 19 kills and 29 digs against St. Thomas. She averaged 3.67 kills per set with 76 digs for the week.
