Mari Prazak, Austin College, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 2)

MARI PRAZAK OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a sophomore libero from Fort Worth, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, September 3 through Sunday, September 8. 

Prazak had an impressive weekend as Austin College went 3-1, averaging a team-best 5.14 digs per set, including a weekend-best 34 digs in the team's loss to Sul Ross. She added 14 assists and four service aces. The sophomore currently leads the SCAC in total digs with 176. 

Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore middle hitter Georgia Mullins of Colorado College was voted to the 2019 Spike It Up Classic all-tournament team after totaling 16 total blocks during CC's three matches. With the tournament title on the line against MIT in Saturday's finale, Mullin put down 10 kills and had four total blocks to help CC record a four-set victory. Sophomore libaro Kaitlin Jones of Johnson & Wales had 66 total digs (4.13 per set) as the Wildcats split four matches at its own Invitational tournament. Freshman setter Katelyn Whitehead of Southwestern recorded 47 digs and five block assists, getting four against UT-Dallas with a career-high 18 digs and 165 assists over the weekend. Junior defensive specialist Sami Lin of Trinity led the No. 7 Tigers to a 2-2 split at the UT-Dallas Invitational last weekend, tallying double-digit digs in all four outings. Lin opened the weekend with a career-best 21 digs against hosting UTD, then had 20 more digs in a narrow loss to nationally-ranked Pacific Lutheran.
