Sarah Mullens, Trinity University, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 1)

SARAH MULLENS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior libero from Aurora, Colo., has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, Septermber 1st through Sunday, Steptember 3rd. 

Mullens led Trinity in both digs and service aces over the weekend, including a 3-2 win over #6 California Lutheran University. Mullins finished the game totalling 34 digs, which tied her for fifth most digs in a match in school history.

Mullens also recorded double-digit digs in all four matches on the weekend and finsihed with a match-best four aces against #1 Calvin College.

Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Junior middle hitter Myca Steffey-Bean of Colorado College was named to the all-tournament team at the 201 Colorado Classic by opposing coaches this weekend, Steffey-Bean recorded 1.50 kills per set. Junior outside hitter Jamison Duck of Southwestern averaged 3.36 digs per set and 1.07 aces per set. Senior defensive specialist Tatiana Ferrari of Austin College, averaged a team-best 3.93 digs per set and totaled 55 digs over the weekend. Freshman middle blocker Bailey Young of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs in total blocks over the weekend with 17 and 15 block assists.
