
KATE MITCHELL OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore right side hitter from Roseville, Ca., has been named SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, October 13th through Sunday, October 19th.
Mitchell was electric offensively for the Pirates, posting game-winning kills and pacing the Pirates to four wins this weekend including a 3-2 win over #10 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. She had 38 kills including a weekend high of 13 against CMS with a .300 attack percentage. On the weekend Mitchell hit .356 and also had four blocks.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior outside hitter Abbe Holtze of Colorado College led the team with 43 kills, averaging 10.75 kills a match. Freshman setter Katie Ingle of Austin College averaged 1.73 kills with a .183 hitting percentage to go along with a team-high 6.27 assists per set. Sophomore middle blocker Kristina Hughes of Trinity University hammered out 13 kills and an impressive .400 hitting percentage in the four-set contest, recording just one error among her 30 attempts.
