LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - All eight of the SCAC women's volleyball squads opened up their 2017 campaigns this weekend.
#14 Trinity University took down two other nationally ranked teams - #23 Wisconsin-Oshkosh and #6 California Lutheran - but fell to #1 Calvin College.
#5 Southwestern had its share of tough competition and notched a 4-0 start to their season at the University of California-Santa Cruz Slug Fest.
#8 Colorado College opened its weekend at home at the Colorado College Classic and started the season 4-0. The Tigers battled against the Augustana College Vikings in a thrilling five-set match. Colorado's Lizzy Counts finished the match with 45 assists, 12 digs, three blocks, and two aces.
The University of Dallas had a tough start to its weekend games. The Crusaders lost the first three in four or five-set matches, but ended their last game on a positive note, taking a W against Agnes Scott College.
The Centenary Ladies split their four matches this weekend. The Ladies fought in a five-set battle against Howard Payne University but eventually lost by two in the final set.
The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs also split their weekend matches 2-2. Austin College ended their weekend 3-1 at the Austin College Classic tournament.
