Colorado College Breaks into Top 10, Southwestern Climbs in AVCA Top 25

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association released the Division III Top 25 poll for the forth week of competition. Colorado College (16-1) jumped from 13th to 9th after going a perfect 4-0 at the SCAC Cross-Divisional. Southwestern University (15-2) saw a slight bump from 18th to 17th after going 3-1 at the SCAC Cross-Divisional. 

The Pirates only defeat last weekend was a four-set loss to Colorado College. Southwestern did not drop a set in their other three matches defeating Austin College, Centenary and the University of Dallas 3-0. 

Senior outside hitter Kaitlyn Foster was solid on Sunday, earning 28 kills, 3 aces, 50 digs with a .268 attack percentage against CC and Austin College. The Pirates next match is on October 6th against Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Colorado College only dropped one set all weekend behind the play of Senior right side hitter Courtney Birkett. Courtney posted 38 kills, 76 assists, 34 digs and 2 aces with a .360 attack percentage over the four matches. This is the first time the Tigers have been ranked in the AVCA Top 10 since October 21, 2014.
