SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- In a announcement made at Sunday's conference championship, Colorado College's Megan Koch was named the 2022 SCAC Women's Track and Field Elite 19 award winner. It is the third straight year that Koch has won the Elite 19 award for women's track and field.
Koch, a senior molecular biology major from Highlands Ranch, Colo., currently holds a 4.000 GPA and took All-SCAC honors with her second-place finish in the 800 meters. Earlier this fall, Koch received the 2021 SCAC Women's Cross Country Elite 19 award.
No other student-athlete has ever won more than two Elite 19 awards in one sport, although Southwestern's Mary Cardone did win four total Elite 19 awards as well, two in women's soccer and two in women's tennis.
Established prior to the 2018-19 academic year and meant to recognize the best of the best within each conference sponsored-sport as it relates to both academic and athletic achievement, the SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has completed the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA. The student-athlete must also have earned All-SCAC First, Second or Third Team honors in his/her sport for that particular season.
