Monique Anderson and Kristyna Landry of Texas Lutheran University and George Warren of Trinity University earned spots in the national competition.
For each men's individual event contested, including the decathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each women's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
Anderson, a senior from Houston, Texas, qualified for both the 100m (12.06) and 200m (24.45) at the National Championship. It is her fourth appearance in the NCAA Outdoor Championship where she has taken All-American honors in both events as well as the 4x100. She made an appearance in the NCAA Indoor Championship earlier this year.
Anderson is a five-time All-American, won the 100 and 200 and anchored the 4x100-meter relay as the Bulldogs won the 2014 SCAC Championship – the fifth consecutive conference title for TLU in women's track and field.
Landry, a senior from Beaumont, Texas, quailified for the discus at the NCAA Championship with a throw of 44.35m. Just last Thursday, Landry topped her personal best by nearly five feet and eclipse Allie Beach's school mark of 43.71m. Beach's then school-record throw in 2013 qualified her for the NCAA DIII Championships, where she finished 11th with a throw of 41.90. Her throw moved her from 24th all the way to 14th and a trip to Ohio.
Landry was the SCAC Championship in the discus, setting a new SCAC mark, and finished second in the hammer throw as the Bulldogs took home the SCAC Title in April.
Warren, a senior from Georgetown, Texas, earned his qualification in the high jump, setting his mark at 2.08m. He will make his first appearance in the National Championship and is coming off an excellent weekend at the SCAC Championship, where the Tigers won their second straight title. Warren was the conference champion in the high jump, long jump, and 4x400. Warren's qualifying jump currently sits right outside the top eight, which decides who earned All-American status, by .01 meter.
The championships will be held May 22-24 at Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, Ohio.
