GIGI FRANCIS AND PHOEBE SHAPARD OFAUSTIN COLLEGE, have been selected as the SCAC Women’s Doubles Team of the Week for matched played from Monday, March 1 to Sunday, March 7.
Francis, a sophomore from Austin, Texas and Shapard, a sophomore from Oklahoma City, Okla., went 2-0 on the weekend at No. 1 doubles line - earning victories in both of their matches. The duo defeated the No. 1 team from the University of the Ozarks, 8-1, and the top team from Mary Hardin-Baylor, 8-2.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Megan Flores and Cate Cushing of Trinity captured No. 2 Doubles, 8-2, against NCAA II Texas A&M-Kingsville in the Tigers' first home match of the season. The duo is 4-1 this season from the second line, 4-2 overall in 2021. Anamarie Gonzalez and Alejandra Lopez of St. Thomas swept their match against Texas Lutheran, posting an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles.
