Schreiner Announces Jacob Carrillo as Next Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach

Kerrville, Texas - Director of Athletics, Bill Raleigh has announced that Jacob Carrillo will be the new Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach at Schreiner University. Carrillo joins the Mountaineer community after being the Women's Assistant Coach at Trinity University for the past three years.

Following the 2018 campaign, Coach Carrillo received the tasc Performance Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III West Region Assistant Coach of the Year Award.

Coach Carrillo went to the Trinity campus in 2016 from his alma mater, Howard Payne University, located in Brownwood, Texas. He was the assistant coach for the Yellow Jackets men's and women's tennis teams from 2014-2016. The versatile Coach Carrillo was also Howard Payne's sports information director's assistant intern for two years.

He was the tennis coordinator and instructor for McAllen (Texas) Parks and Recreation, in the summer of 2013. Coach Carrillo also headed the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) program, which included traveling with a competitive tennis team.

A native of Lytle, Texas, Coach Carrillo earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard Payne in December 2014 in communication, with a minor in general studies. He was a four-year letter-winner for the Yellow Jackets men's tennis team, and received two awards in 2013: the Yellow Jacket of the Year, and the Sportsmanship Award.
