LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Inclement weather forced many cancellations this week as Southwestern was the lone Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s tennis team to take the court.
In the only contest of the week, the Pirates defeated Howard Payne, 9-0. All six singles matches favored Southwestern in straight sets with No. 5 Stephanie Bartusov and No. 6 Isabel Candelario sweeping opponents 6-0, 6-0. No. 1 Esther Bowers, No. 3 Meeshti Shethia and No. 4 Chandler Vrba earned 6-0, 6-1 victories while No. 2 Cecile Wilde topped Rosie Cadena 6-1, 6-2. In doubles, No. 2 Mary Cardone/Mariana Quetzeri and No. 3 Nina Elez/Chandler Vrba blanked their opponent, 8-0.
SCAC women's tennis play continues on Tuesday when Schreiner faces Howard Payne on the road.
