MOBILE, Ala. - Hendrix College first year
Claire Mesnil finished her fall season with an
impressive fifth place finish at the Intercollegiate Tennis
Association National Small College Championships hosted by the
Copeland-Cox Tennis Center from Thursday through Saturday.
Mesnil (Avignon, France) opened the singles tournament with a
hard-fought 4-6, 6-4, 4-6 loss Thursday morning to the eventual
runner-up Lauren Chen from Carnegie Mellon University.
Mesnil kicked off her first consolation round match with a victory
over the University of Rochester's Lia Weiner and looked to face
Emory University's Lorne McManigle for the 5th place contest at
10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Mesnil fell behind in the first set, 5-7, before taking sets two
and three 6-1 and 6-3, respectively, for the Warriors best finish
in program history at the ITA Nationals.
