CAROLINE WESTHOLDER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman from Minneapolis, Minn., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Monday, October 14 to Sunday, October 20.
Westholder had a stellar first showing for the Tigers, winning two events in a dual meet against UT-Permian Basin. The freshman won the 200 fly with a time of 2:10.07 - a time that would have placed second at last year's SCAC Championships - and later took second in the 100 free with a 54.85. Further in the schedule, she won the 400 IM in a time of 4:43.77 and a few minutes later led off the 400 free relay in a time of 0:55.1.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior Jio Chang of Colorado College, in the team's quad meet at Colorado State Pueblo on Saturday, picked up individua wins in two events - the 200 free in a time of 2:00.99 and the 100 fly in a time of 1:00.52. Chang was also third in 100 back (1:03.75), and led off the second-place 200 free relay. Freshman Liberty Chanin of Austin College was a contributor to three first-place finishes this past Friday against McMurry. Chanin picked up individual wins in the 1000 free (11:29.87) and the 500 free (5:39.76), and was the lead leg on the winning 200 free relay squad. Senior Jessica Gryder of McMurry won the 50 free with a 27.49 and then took third in the 100 free (1:00.97) in the War Hawks' dual against Austin College.
