Mabel Fowler, Trinity University, Swimmer of the Week (Week 5)

MABEL FOWLER OF TRINTIY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Uvalde, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for her performance the week of Monday, November 12 through Sunday, November 18. It marks the second consecutive week Fowler has won the award and the third time this year.

Fowler had another outstanding meet to lead the Tiger women to a win at this weekend’s Trinity Tiger Invitational. The sophomore scored three individual wins and a relay victory in the meet, setting new school and SCAC open records in the process. Her best times were 24.7 in the 50 free, 52.7 in the 100 free, and 1:51.49 in the 200 free. Her time in the 200 free is a new school and SCAC open record, earning her a NCAA ‘B’ cut. She also earned a ‘B’ cut with her school-record time of 4:59.36 in the 500 free, which was less than a second from a new SCAC open record. Fowler’s winning time of 2:01.25 in the 200 back was also a new school record.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Jesse Stovall of Southwestern was victorious in the 100 free, breaking the school record with a time of 52.16. She also won the 100 fly and broke the school record with a time of 57:19. The first-year also broke the school record in the 200 free relay with a split of 23.54.
