Mabel Fowler, Trinity University, Swimmer of the Week (Week 2)

MABEL FOWLER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Uvalde, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for her performance during the week spanning October 22nd through October 28th.

In Trinity's opening meet at The University of the Incarnate Word, Mabel jump-started her 2018-19 season with some eye-catching performances. She led off TU's 200 medley relay with a lifetime PR 27.42 backstroke split before chasing that swim with a 1:54.27 performance in the 200 freestyle. Saving the best for last individually, Fowler then stepped up in the 200 backstroke and rocketed home with a winning time of 2:03.21. That was another lifetime PR and a new Trinity school record. As of Saturday, it's also the fastest NCAA Division III performance of this still very young season.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year swimmer Jesse Stovall of Southwestern
helped pace the Pirates, winning both of her individual events and serving as the anchor leg in the women's winning 200 medley relay, which finished with a time of 1:54.51. She was the first swimmer on the first-place 200 free relay team, which finished with a 1:46.37 time. She posted a time of 2:00.53 in the 200 free, which was roughly seven seconds faster than Austin College's Chloe Hunt, who finished second; and had a 54.56 final time in the 100 free to play a hand in 40 of the Pirates' points.
