LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Only two SCAC women's teams were in action last week with Southwestern defeating Austin College in a dual meet in Sherman heading the schedule.
The Pirate women earned the 150-64 dual meet victory on Friday at Austin College. Southwestern opened with a victory in the 200 medley relay, getting a sub-two minutes time from Megan Mick, Teresa Cropper, Brynn Stokes, and Catherine Hiebel at 1:59.16.
Jesse Stovall was victorious in the 50 free, swimming a time of 25.21, and she also won the 100 fly with a time of 1:02.03. Natalie Gierat claimed victory in the 200 IM, scoring a 2:20.09, and in the 100 breast with a time of 1:13.71.
Other winners for Southwestern included Danielle Perales in the 100 back (1:06.04), Emma Frey in the 200 free (2:03.62) and Kyla Gorman on the 1-meter board with a score of 166.50. The Pirates closed the event with a victory in the 200 free relay, getting a time of 1:44.07 from Frey, Rehgan Hartsell, Brielle Adolph, and Stovall.
Austin College's Liberty Chanin had a pair of first place finishes, touching in a time of 11.14.62 in the 1000 free and 5:35.21 in the 500 free. Her teammate Chloe Hunt was first in the 100 free with a time of 58.46.
The following day, Southwestern took back to the pool in a dual meet at NCAA DII Oklahoma Christian where the Pirates dropped a 152-123 decision.
The Pirates opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay, posting a time of 1:54.11 to best Oklahoma Christian's 1:54.98. Rehgan Hartsell picked up the Pirates' first individual win in the 100 breast in a time of 1:09.96. She also touched first in the 200 breast with a strong finish of 2:34.47.
The Pirates closed the event with another relay victory, notching a 3:44.48 in the 400 free relay.
The 2019 swimming and diving schedule continues next week with five of the league's seven teams in action, highlighted by Centenary, McMurry and University of the Ozarks participating in the Hendrix College Relays and Classic on Friday and Saturday.
