Five Women's, Four Men's Teams Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released the Scholar All-America teams for the fall of 2018, with a record 713 swimming and diving programs earning the honor, including five women’s and four men’s Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference teams.

The teams were selected by the CSCAA’s Scholar All-America committee based on their Fall grade point averages and represent 16,502 student-athletes.   

Colorado College had both programs earn the honor for the ninth time in a row. The women posted a GPA of 3.50, while the men hold a 3.51, first among the conference.

Southwestern University posted the top women's GPA in the league with a 3.53, while the men's team was also honored after recording a 3.34.

Austin College earned the honor for both the men’s and women’s program, with the men posting a 3.03 GPA and the women holding a 3.26 GPA. Trinity University is the fourth SCAC institution with both the men's and women's teams recognized. The Tiger men hold a 3.02 GPA, while the women have a 3.31.

University of the Ozarks also earn the honor for the women's programs, achieving a GPA of 3.41.

For a team to be considered, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is the nation's oldest professional organization of college coaches. Its mission is to serve and provide leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
