SCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Recap - Week 13

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's swimming and diving teams competed over the weekend.

Trinity University earned a win in a tri-meet with Centre College and Birmingham Southern College, while Southwestern fell just short against UT-Permian Basin.

The Tiger women earned five wins to go with 14 top-three performances in the meet. Mabel Fowler earned a pair of individual victories, as well as being a part of the winning 400 medley relay team. Fowler had the top time in the 200 backstroke and teamed with Lindsay Hagmann, Rebecca Andruzzi, and Liz Ryan for the winning relay.

Fowler also finished the 1000 freestyle in 10:48.63, which is the second-best time in school history and is the top time in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference this season.

Along with joining Fowler on the winning 400 medley relay, Hagmann also took the gold in the 50 free and was second in the 200 free. She teamed up with Lauren Cuda, Abbie Jones, and Star Rosales for the winning 400 free relay as well.

Cuda was second in the 200 free and was part of the third-place 400 medley relay team that also consisted of Cuda, Jones, and Paige Johnson.

In addition to her helping two relay teams to third-place finishes, Johnson was also second to Fowler in the 200 back. Andruzzi added a bronze finish in the 500 free to her relay win in the 400 medley.

For Southwestern, the Pirates' relay of Kate Russell, Rehgan Hartsell, Cara Chin and Erika Dubros got the Pirates on the right foot by winning the 200 medley relay by five seconds (1:54.96), but UTPB won the next three events. Hartsell snapped the run with a first place finish in the 100 breast, beating her nearest competitor by two seconds with a time of 1:10.58. 

Russell and Chin placed second in the 100 back and 50 free, respectively. Russell was out-touched at the wall with a time of 1:05.71 while Chin posted a time of 25.83.  Dubros and Chin snagged first and second in the 100 free. Dubros posted a time of 57.22 while Chin came in a 58.26.
