LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Another record was broken by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as the organization named 810 swimmers and divers to its Scholar All-America team, and an additional 1,078 as Honorable Mention selections, including 10 student-athletes from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Trinity University placed six females and one male on the list, while Colorado College added three females and one male.
Trinity had five All-American selections -- Stephen Culberson, Bethany Rysak, Danielle Freund, Lauren Cuda and Sarah Kate Mrkonich -- and two honorable mention honorees, Mollie Patzke and Sara Miller.
Colorado College was led on the women's side by Olivia Dilorati, with Ellen Silk and Megan Gillespie each earning honorable mention. Austin Howlett was recognized on the men's side.
Earlier this week, both Colorado College and Trinity's men's and women's swimming & diving programs earned national recognition for team grade point average. CC ranked third on the women's side (3.67 GPA) and fourth on the men's side (3.52 GPA) among Division III schools, while both teams were top-10 among programs from all NCAA divisions. The Trinity women had the 18th highest GPA, 3.50, while the men had the 41st ranked GPA, 3.03.
To be selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Honorable Mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at their respective qualifying meets.
