SCAC Swimmers and Divers Close out NCAA Championships in Style

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference had one student-athlete and one relay team earn All-American honors after the final day of competition at the 2009 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

Junior swimmer John Cook of DePauw University added one more individual All-American honor to his name after he finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle. Cook, who broke his own school record in the prelims, swam the final in a time of 44:46.

DePauw University's 400-yard freestyle relay team of John Cook (junior), John Montgomery (freshman), Josh Baugh (sophomore), and Steve Klabak (junior) broke the school record in the prelims (3:01.73) before swimming a 3:02.32 in the finals to earn All-American Honors finishing in seventh place.

For the meet the SCAC collected nine individual All-American honors and four relay All-American honors.

The DePauw men finished the NCAA Championships tied for 12th-place with 92 points. On the women's side, Trinity finished in 16th-place with 59 points while Centre tied for 30th-place with 21 points.
