KENEDIE LANE OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a junior goalkeeper from Frisco, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Monday, September 4th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 1)
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior goalkeeper Johnna Campbell of Southwestern was a steady presence in goal recording a league leading 18 saves through the opening weekend of play. Campbell tied a career-high with 12 saves in a tough 2-0 loss to Christopher Newport on Sunday. It marked the fifth time in her career Campbell has registered 10 or more saves in a single contest. Senior defender Sophia Clarite of St. Thomas played all 90 minutes in the Celts 1-1 draw against ETBU last Friday. Clarite anchored a defensive effort that allowed just one goal and limited the Tigers to just nine shots on goal. Sophomore midfielder Ashlyn Suarez of Texas Lutheran led the defensive effort for the Bulldogs as TLU went 1-0-1. Suarez was strong defensively, winning 50/50 balls, reading dangerous situations, blocking multiple shots and limiting opponents from turning in the offensive third of the field. Senior defender Bailey Meyer of Trinity led the Tigers to a 1-1 road record last week, earning a win over Redlands before falling to 2022 NCAA Playoff team Pomona-Pitzer. Meyer and the defense allowed just four total shots in the win over Redlands on Friday, then chipped in with an assist on Trinity's lone goal in Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Pomona.
