KAITY WARD OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior midfielder from Phoenix, Ariz., has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 21st.
Ward netted the overtime game-winner to vault the Tiger women’s soccer team to a road win over Dallas on Saturday. Ward led the team with eight total shots and five shots on goal in the victory, but her final shot counted the most when she knocked in a goal at the 95:00 mark of the game. She has now scored goals in three straight games for Trinity, though Saturday marked her first game-winning goal of the season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder Gabby McDonald of Centenary scored an unassisted insurance goal in the Ladies 2-0 win over Schreiner last Saturday in Shreveport. It was her team leading fourth goal of the season. Junior forward Samantha Martinez of Texas Lutheran scored the Bulldogs’ goal in a 1-1 tie against Austin College last Friday. Martinez scored the goal in the 57th minute to give TLU a 1-0 lead. She finished with seven shots on goal.
