CHELSEA COLE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from Texarkana, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Monday, October 1st to Sunday, October 7th.
Cole led Trinity to a pair of road wins in SCAC play, defeating both Southwestern and Centenary. Cole had a hand in four of Trinity’s six goals over the week, scoring the game-winner against Southwestern on Tuesday, and then tying the game in the 18th minute against Centenary.
In addition to her GW goal, Cole also had a pair of assists in the 3-0 win over the Pirates.
For the season, Cole leads the Tigers with 13 goals and 31 total points and is tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals. She also has tallied five assists on the year, which is the third-best among Trinity players.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Kyra Montes of Centenary registered her second hat trick of the season in a 3-2 win over Louisiana College in non-conference action last week. The junior then added an assist in a loss to Trinity. Freshman defender Anisa Meza of Dallas scored the game-winning goal for the Crusaders in a 2-1 victory against Austin College last Tuesday. Junior forward Natasha Martin of Johnson & Wales led the Wildcats to a pair of victories last week, scoring twice against Austin College, including the game-winner. Martin now leads JWU with four game-winning goals on the season. Sophomore midfielder Annie Ewton of Southwestern scored the game-winning goal for the Pirates in a 1-0 win over Centenary last week.
