JORDAN LEEPER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior defender from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Monday, October 12th through Sunday, October 18th.
Leeper led the top-ranked Tiger women's soccer team to a pair of road shutouts in SCAC play last weekend, defeating both Centenary College and Austin College. Leeper and the Tiger defense recorded their 10th and 11th consecutive shutouts this weekend, conceding a total of four shots in the two games.
Leeper also contributed the game-winning goal in the win over Centenary, then assisted on the game-winner on Sunday at Austin. For the season, Leeper and the Tiger defense have recorded 13 shutouts in 15 games played, allowing just two total goals. She is also tied for third on the team with five goals scored this year, but leads the team with seven assists - totaling 17 points overall.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman defender Lindsey Fitz of Schreiner University helped lead the Mountaineers to a 2-0 week in the SCAC with her game-winning goal vs. Austin. Sophomore goalkeeper Elena Naccari of the University of Dallas worked her second consecutive shutout and third one of the year in a 1-0 overtime win against the Bulldogs. Junior defender Taylor Vatuna of Texas Lutheran University led a Bulldog defense that surrendered just two goals in double-OT and regulation-time matches.
