HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Southwestern outshot Centenary, 17-9. Both teams had six corners.
  • The game was plagued with cards as Centenary accumulated four yellows and a red while Southwestern played a person down from the 63rd minute on after a straight red called on Alexis Guaardo. Centenary's Gabby McDonald exited late in the first overtime after being cautioned a second time.
  • Southwestern goalkeeper Mary Cardone maintained a clean sheet with three saves; Centenary's Karlie Delhommer had four saves before allowing the game-winner in the 100th minute.

  • The overtime game was the second between the two in the last seven days. Southwestern went on the road to defeat Centenary, 2-1, this past Sunday in double overtime in the regular-season finale for both teams.
  • This will be Southwestern's fourth appearance in the title game. All three previous appearances (2013, 2016, 2018), the Pirates fell to Trinity, who is their opponent again this trip.
  • Centenary advanced to the semifinals for the second time in three seasons and yesterday's victory over Schriener established a new program record for wins with 16.
