LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Conference action heated up last weekend with all eight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer teams in action. Trinity (10-1-1, 9-0-0), Johnson & Wales (6-4-0, 5-3-0) and Texas Lutheran (5-4-1, 4-3-0) all earned important points and posted perfect 2-0 records in conference contests with just under a month to go in regular season play.
Trinity secured its eighth-straight shutout last Tuesday with a 3-0 win over Southwestern (6-4-0, 4-2-0). The streak marked the third-straight season the Tigers have put together a streak of eight or more consecutive shutouts. Centenary (8-5-0, 5-5-0) snapped the run on Sunday when they took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute before Trinity rattled off three straight goals for a two-goal win.
Johnson & Wales improved to 3-1 at home in league contests after earning victories against Dallas (3-6-1, 2-4-0), 1-0, and Austin College (0-11-0, 0-7-0), 3-1. The Wildcats are now 3-1 in one-goal games this year in the SCAC.
Texas Lutheran squared off against Schreiner (3-8-1, 2-7-0) in back-to-back games last week, winning both by identical 2-1 scores. The Bulldogs have now won four straight SCAC games for the first time since joining the league in 2013.
In other SCAC action, Southwestern responded from its loss to Trinity by defeating Centenary, 1-0, on Friday and Dallas defeated Austin College, 2-1, on Tuesday. Centenary did however earn one victory last week, beating non-conference foe Louisiana College, 3-2, on Tuesday.
The SCAC schedule continues this week highlighted by Texas Lutheran traveling to face Trinity on Friday and hosting Johnson & Wales on Sunday as the battle for tournament seeding takes shape.
