LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -
Despite inclement weather across the SCAC footprint, the conference portion of the 2018 women’s soccer season got underway last weekend with Centenary (2-0, 4-0) and Johnson & Wales (2-0, 3-1) tied atop the standings following a pair of league victories apiece.

After defeating Millsaps in non-conference action last Wednesday, the Ladies secured two overtime SCAC victories over the weekend, defeating Texas Lutheran (0-1, 1-1-1) on Friday and Schreiner (0-1, 1-2-1) on Sunday. The win over TLU snapped an 11-game winless streak against the Bulldogs and marked the first time the Ladies have defeated TLU in conference play. Centenary’s 4-0 start is its best in the NCAA Div. III ear and the best overall since starting 5-0 in 2009. Johnson & Wales debuted in the SCAC with impressive road victories against Dallas (0-1, 1-2-1) and Austin College (0-1, 0-4).

In non-conference action, Dallas closed out the weekend with a 4-1 triumph over Howard Payne and in a battle of nationally ranked squads, No. 12 Trinity (0-0, 1-1-1) fell to No. 4 Hardin-Simmons, 2-0, on Friday.

SCAC play continues this week with a full schedule of contests, beginning on Tuesday as Trinity opens conference play at Texas Lutheran and Centenary looks to continue its perfect run to open the season when they host Dallas. A trio of SCAC games are scheduled for both Friday and Sunday, including the conference opener for Southwestern (0-0, 1-2) when they visit Johnson & Wales on Friday.
