SCAC Women's Soccer Recap - Week Eight

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The field is set for the 2017 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament as the league play begins to wind down.

Though not all of the seeding is decided for the tournament, the six participating teams have been determined. The field will include: Austin College, Centenary College, Schreiner University, Southwestern University, Texas Lutheran University and Trinity University.

Trinity (15-1, 11-0 SCAC) clinched the regular season championship with a pair of wins over Austin College and Centenary. The Tigers extended their winning streak to 15 games, with their only loss coming in the season opener on September 1.

Schreiner University secured the second-seed and a first-round bye in the tournament after posting a 2-0 record. The Mountaineers and Tiger will face each other in the season finale next weekend.

Texas Lutheran won their only conference game this weekend to hold onto third in the standings and move to 6-4-1 in the SCAC.

Centenary College currently sits in fourth place with 10 points in the standings, followed by Austin College and Southwestern University in the final two spots with nine points.

The Pirates won an overtime thriller on Sunday to earn their bid into the tournament. After 90 scoreless minutes, SU scored off of a free kick in the 96th minute of play.
