SHREVEPORT, La. - The fourth-seeded Centenary College Ladies and fifth-seeded Southwestern University couldn't decide the outcome of the tournament's first contest in 110 minutes of play, but the Ladies advanced to Saturday's competition after recording a 3-2 advantage in penalty kicks.

The Ladies held a huge shot advantage during the game, but strong goalkeeping by the Pirates kept the contest scoreless.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Centenary held a huge shot advantage, taking 22 shots during regulation to just two shots from Southwestern.
  • The Ladies also held a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Southwestern goalkeeper Mary Cardone had a career performance in the game, recording 14 saves.
  • During penalty kicks, the Ladies made their first two shots to take a 2-0 lead out of the gate, but it was all tied heading into the final Centenary shot.
  • Pamela Fonseca tabbed the final score for Centenary, helping the Ladies win the shootout 3-2.
