Seven SCAC Women's Soccer Student-Athletes Earn NSCAA Scholar All-Region Honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released the women’s soccer Scholar All-Region teams Thursday and seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes were recognized. Full release

Trinity University’s Emily Donnan, Janie Thompson and Kimberly Polasek each earned first team recognition, while teammates Brigitte Taylor and Yasmeen Farra were placed on the second team. Southwestern University’s Audrey Silver also earned second team recognition, while Pirates’ midfielder Hayley Miesse completes the SCAC honorees on third team.

Just one day prior to this release, Donnan, Polasek and Thompson earned NSCAA Scholar All-America honors.

Donnan, a senior defender from Houston, Texas holds a 3.43 grade point average majoring in psychology.

Thompson, a junior goalkeeper for the Tigers from Leawood, Kan., has an impressive 3.51 GPA in Neuroscience.

Donnan and Thompson led the Trinity defense that ranked fourth in the nation, allowing just 0.265 goals per game.

Polasek, a senior midfielder from San Antonio, Texas rounds out the first team honorees, boasting a 3.85 GPA in biology. Polasek ranked third on the team with seven goals on the season, helping the Tigers offense with 3.7 goals per game.

Taylor, a junior midfielder from Tulsa, Okla., holds a 3.76 GPA in psychology. Fellow junior Farra, a midfielder from Austin, Texas, is majoring in engineering science and currently has a 3.50 GPA. The duo combined for eight goals and 13 assists on the season.

Silver, a junior defender from Allen, Texas, holds an impressive 3.75 GPA in communications with the Pirates. She played in 20 games this season, making 19 starts. She helped a Pirates’ defense that posted six clean sheets on the season.

Miesse, a junior midfielder from Austin, Texas, rounds out the group with a 3.57 GPA, majoring in Kinesiology. She ranked second on the team with four goals this season, while playing and starting in all 20 games for SU.
