SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trinity University Director of Athletics Bob King has announced that Lance Key has resigned from his position as the Head Coach of the Tiger women's soccer team.
Coach Key recently completed his 12th season at the helm of Trinity's program, winning a school-record 209 games to go with an 88% winning percentage during his tenure. He led his teams to the NCAA Playoffs 11 times, including a berth in the 2013 NCAA Championship game. Coach Key also won 10 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) titles during his 12 seasons, with the 2015 season being his seventh consecutive title.
"I will miss Lance on a professional and on a personal level," said King. "I want to thank Lance for his achievements both on and off the field with the Trinity women's soccer program. This new venture is a wonderful opportunity for Lance and his family, and we wish him nothing but the best."
This past fall, Coach Key was inducted into the Trinity University Athletics Hall of Fame, recognizing his outstanding career as a member of the Tiger men's soccer team. The 2000 Trinity graduate was a three-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-American, and the 1999 SCAC Player of the Year. Coach Key was the only Division III player selected in the Major League Soccer draft in 2000, and was a standout for the Colorado Rapids.
