Texas Lutheran's Kirkpatrick Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released the Academic All-District teams for women's soccer Thursday and one Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athlete earned a spot on the list. Full Release

Sioned Kirkpatrick of Texas Lutheran University earned the academic honor for the first time in her career. She currently holds a 3.59 grade point average while majoring in Molecular Biology and Chemistry.

Kirkpatrick is one of the seniors leading the Bulldogs' squad, who will enter the SCAC tournament for the third consecutive year. In addition to her success in the classroom, Kirkpatrick is also dominant on the field, leading the conference with 11 goals, while posting 24 points on the season, second best in the SCAC. She has also totaled 55 shots, which leads all conference players.

Kirkpatrick and the Bulldogs will continue their season with one final conference match up, taking on Southwestern University on the road. This game will decide whether TLU earns the No. 3 or 4 seed in the upcoming tournament.

Voting is conducted by members of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The Capital One Academic All-America Team will be announced November 21.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution  and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
