
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Senior midfielder Kelsey Falcone and sophomore defender Nicole Gardini of Trinity University were named SCAC Players of the Week for their performance in Week 5 of the SCAC women's soccer season.

Games of September 22nd – September 28th
KELSEY FALCONE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior midfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 22nd through Sunday, September 28th.
Falcone scored in each of third-ranked Trinity’s three victories over the past week, including a weekend sweep in SCAC games against Schreiner and Texas Lutheran.
Falcone nabbed a goal and an assist in a mid-week game against Mary Hardin-Baylor, then had a goal and two assists on Friday night against Schreiner. In Sunday’s weekend finale, Falcone scored another goal in the fifth minute to put the Tigers ahead 2-0 at the time. Falcone assisted on the game-winning goals in the UMHB and Schreiner games.
For the season, Falcone is second on the team in goals, assists, and points for the Tigers. She has scored six goals and six assists for 18 total points, and has scored one game-winning goal.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward
Mandi Sherwood of Austin College had a
goal and an assist to lead the 'Roos to a 4-0 win over Centenary in
the team's only match of the week. Sophomore forward Sarah Bevins of
Southwestern scored the game winning goal
against Schreiner to lead the Pirates to a 2-0 weekend in
conference play. Centenary, Dallas, Schreiner, and Texas Lutheran did not
nominate anyone.

NICOLE GARDINI OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore defender from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 22nd through Sunday, September 28th.
Gardini led Trinity’s defense in three shutout victories over the past week, including a conference weekend sweep against Schreiner and Texas Lutheran.
Gardini also added her first career goal in Sunday’s win over Texas Lutheran. Gardini and the Tiger defense recorded its fifth consecutive shutout, giving up just two total shots in the three games. Led by Gardini, Trinity didn’t allow any shots in the conference games over the weekend.
For the season, Gardini and Trinity’s defense has recorded six total shutouts – including five consecutive clean sheets.

Junior
goalkeeper Franchesca Lozoya of Austin
College earned her third shutout of
the season in Austin College's only game of the week, making two
saves in a win over Centenary. Senior defender Kayla Nguyen of
Dallas was a leader on the defense, pitching a shutout
over Centenary and also scoring a goal over the
weekend. Freshman defender Ana Gutierrez of
Southwestern was a critical defender,
giving the Pirates a 2-0 conference record over the weekend. Also
had a goal and and assist. Centenary, Schreiner,
and Texas
Lutheran did not nominate anyone.
